Bio: Author and speaker, Carol Barnier, finds that some of God’s best gifts are found in places where others don’t even want to look. She started Open Gifts because she believes that God has this wonderful knack of teaching us His most valuable lessons through some of life's most rattling moments. Several of her journeys (both painful and pleasant) are the fuel of her speaking and writing material. Through a long medical ordeal for her son, involving 13 surgical procedures before he was 3 1/2, Carol learned the valuable lesson that she wasn't in control. When this same child struggled to succeed in a traditional classroom, Carol found herself homeschooling. That will grow you & rattle you simultaneously! This experience eventually led her to write How To Get Your Child Off The Refrigerator and On To Learning. Her next book, If I’m Diapering a Watermelon, Then Where’d I Leave The Baby? came as a result of realizing that she faced her own battles with distractibility.

Carol shares her message with much humor, practical strategies and a solid trust for the Designer. She is a great encourager for any one who has ever found themselves asking:

  • Why am I made this way?
  • What are my children made that way?
  • What was God thinking?
  • Why does life happen this way?

Carol is now a regular speaker at women's groups, state home schooling conferences, and has been a guest on radio programs such as Moody Radio (311 affiliates), American Family Radio (200 stations), Life Talk Radio (15 markets) and many other individual stations.
