The first Golden Scroll Awards was presented at a banquet sponsored by AWSA, July 8th, 2001, at the Sheraton Atlanta just prior to the opening of CBA (Christian Booksellers Association) tradeshow. AWSA recognized and honored an editor as well as a publisher who best partner with their authors in the ministry of creating inspiring and life-changing books with both the Golden Scroll Editor as well as the Publisher of the Year Awards. The banquet featured worship music by the Awesome Singers as well as the music of Kim Moore who sang Martha Bolton's parody, Thank You for Publishing My Book. AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers
Association) already has over 200 members. The
association is made up of the top women authors who are also speakers.
Membership qualifications include having two or more books in
print and speaking across state lines more than three times a year. What AWSA said about their Golden Scroll
